F. Winkle & Co. Antique Wash Jug

$7.50 at Goodwill Toronto
When I first saw this piece I was struck by its large size and beautifully detailed green and white Art Nouveau rose design (what I've come to learn is the "Irving" pattern).

It was so shiny and new looking that I had no idea it was an antique.  I fully expected to flip it over and find a HomeSense sticker stuck to the bottom of it.  Instead, after closer inspection of the cartouche mark, and a quick trip to Google, I found out that it was made in England sometime between 1890-1925.

For more information you can go to Passion for the Past Antiques & Collectibles.  Not quite sure what I'm going to do with it, so for now it is adorning a kitchen shelf!

Made by F. Winkle & Co. at the Colonial Pottery

  1. My partner found the exact pitcher but only in a pink color. We can not find any info on it other then what we found here. We are wondering how old it is and if it is a valuable piece. Any information would be appreciated

  2. Hi! I got a lot of my information from this website: http://www.passionforthepastantiques.com. Once you're on the website put F. Winkle and Co. in the search box.

Also, your jug should have a pattern name on the bottom that can be used to help determine when it was made. For example, the pattern of my jug is called the Irving, which was known to be made around 1900. I was shocked to see the matching bowl for my jug is $375 and the set together would sell for many times that! Hope this helps!
