Cabin Fever

Hey peeps!  I only have a minute but I couldn't wait to share these pics with you!  The cutest little shabbylicous cabin!  You can see more of it at Sandra Foster's My Shabby Streamside Studio.  I first read about it in the New York Times Home & Garden section and was blown away by how pretty and dreamy it is.  The tone of the article was less than inspirational, but the story reached me, because it is one of someone who has worked very hard to create a place to call their own.  Something I can definitely relate to.  Anyway, must run but will write more (on this) soon.

Pretty Headboard

Only have time for a quick post but came across this beautiful turquoise headboard ... for a double bed just like mine!!  The colour is so pretty!  This is basically exactly what I'm looking for and it's not too expensive either!

White Out

One thing has become glaringly apparent (besides the sunshine) is that I need a headboard! The wall behind my bed makes me feel like I'm in Antarctica in the middle of a wind storm. Total whiteout!  Maybe I just need something to affix to the wall like a mirror or something made from a natural material like wicker or rattan. I shall investigate, and see what's out there.

Hyacinths & Roses

I love the flowers I got tonight. They're so pretty, and they smell so good!  My apartment smells like a beautiful garden now-- instead of the food I made for dinner.  I wanted Hydrangeas, but they aren't in season yet, so there were only a couple bouquets to choose from.  I decided to go with the hyacinths and roses, and plan to go back sometime next week for the hydrangeas.  I would love to take a flower arranging class some day, but maybe I'll just google some articles and start practicing.  Any excuse to buy more flowers is a good enough excuse for me!

Where My Food At?

If you were to judge me by my cupboards, you might think that I subsist solely on flowers and booze (I don't).

Hope you're not hungry!

It's just that I am obsessed with glassware of all kinds ... champagne flutes, wine tumblers, vases, jugs and jars.  I especially love vases with a blue or green tint, like the jug on the top shelf or the heart-shaped vase on the second. I can barely restrain myself (and by barely I mean never), even though you can see that my cupboards are already getting full. I actually made myself go out and buy some flowers tonight, because I was starting to feel ridiculous with so many vases, and no flowers to put in them!  Hmm.  Come to think of it, maybe I should make myself go buy a bottle of vodka so I can make use of those martini glasses. ;) Actually, I really do want to start entertaining and having friends over more often, so I know they will definitely come in handy!

Shelves of Seashells

Hey guys!  Just thought I'd take some pics of my apartment.  I've got lots of little areas that look really pretty and I'm really happy with the way it's coming along.  These pics are of a few shelves in my kitchen.

I ♥ Hydrangeas

Spring is here, and what better time to showcase one of my newfound favourite flowers ... hydrangeas! I just think they are so pretty and girly, and the great thing is you can make a beautiful bouquet with the most simple vase.  I particularly like the hydrangea-mason jar combo.  Enjoy!

Mama Needs A New Desk

As seen at Driftwood Interiors Blog

I took a much needed break from reading today, and popped into my local second-hand store.  I ended up finding a glass table top for $12!!  Now you may be asking yourself if I needed a glass table top, inexpensive or otherwise, and the answer to that would be, "How do you define need?"  I have a desk that I'm currently using, but I definitely don't love it!  It only got in the door, because school had already started, and I was desperate for a proper area to sit at.

Anyway, I'm really excited because sheets of glass can be really expensive, and I really wanted a basic glass table to use for my desk.  I still need to buy the trestles to set the glass on, but the hard/expensive part is over!

The piece I bought is actually a whole table top, but I'm going to remove the glass from the white box and place it directly on the trestles, because I prefer the look of glass without anything beneath it.  Not so boxy!

Love it with the chrome!
With just the glass!  Voila!
